Dimethyl Glycine (DMG)
Description:
Dimethyl Glycine, formerly called vitamin B15 or pangamic acid, is
a derivative of the amino acid glycine. It is produced in the
mitochondria of cells from choline and betaine and is constantly
being broken down as it is used. It is also found in low levels in many
foods.
Plants/Food Which Contain Dimethyl Glycine:
- Brewer's yeast
- Liver/organ meats
- Pumpkin seeds
- Sesame seeds
- Whole brown rice
Physiologic Therapeutics:
- Increases blood and oxygen supplies to tissues
- Involved with protein synthesis
- Involved with regulation of steroid hormones
- Involved with respiratory cycle of cells
- Reduces hyper-proliferation of certain kinds of cells
Clinical Indications:
Dosage:
- 50 - 150 mg. in divided doses
Drug/Nutrient Interactions:
- Works synergistically with vitamins A and E
Adverse Reactions and Toxicity:
- No known toxic effects
- Initial nausea that can be avoided by taking with largest meal
of the day
