Fructooliogosaccharides (FOS)
Description:
Fructooliogosaccharides (FOS), short-chain polysaccharides, are
soluble fiber from edible plants. Certain lactic acid producing
probiotic microflora, Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria, utilize FOS as
food.
Plants/Food Which Contain FOS:
- Asparagus
- Garlic
- Jerusalem artichokes
- Onions
Physiologic Therapeutics:
- Enhances elimination of toxic substances
- Feeds the friendly gut bacteria
- Improves liver function
- Increases production of butyrate, a beneficial short-chain
fatty acid
