- Allergic hypersensitivity - empirical data
- Infants due to the essential oil - speculative
- Pregnancy due to the emmenagogue effect and phytoestrogen activity - empirical data
- Prolonged usage unless under a physician's care - due to the speculative procarcinogenic estragole constituent in the volatile oil
