- Eliminate foods that cause an allergic response or to which
there is a sensitivity (fast, use an elimination diet, or allergy
test to isolate such foods)
- Totally eliminate sucrose (glucose and fructose together) and
refined, simple carbohydrates
- Increase consumption of foods with low glycemic indices
- Legumes in the morning have shown an extremely beneficial
effect on blood glucose
- Avoid coffee, alcohol, and tobacco
- Avoid junk foods
- Eat snacks of protein or almonds between meals
- Eat 6 cloves of garlic a
day
- Use extra virgin olive oil rather than other types of cooking oils.

- Graded exercise program: 15 minutes per day 3 times a week for
1 week, then 15 minutes per day 4 times a week for 2 week, then 20
minutes per day 4 times per week for 3 weeks, then 30 minutes a
day 4 times per week
